When I was taking a glance at the blogs I was surprised to read about the red box in fiction. I did not think the scene was that bad without the red box; actually, I felt that the red box made it worse. I was thinking about how censorship has changed in only a decade. In 2009 film The Last House on the Left, there was a graphic rape scene. I believe that this demonstrates an improvement on how film makers can express their creativity in the views without being limited.

Interesting how that red box, works, huh? I agree, I think it magnifies the scene a great deal.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure you can think about censorship in terms of a historical continuum like you do here. I don't think it has changed: its always applied unevenly and the same board that approved the Last House on the Left (is this a remake, btw?) is the same group that censured Storytelling.
