Camera Eye Documenting our Lives
The clip on Camera eye was comical and informational at the same time. I like how in the beginning of the clip it shows how the first camera was and how it was such a big commotion and trend! Its unbelievable how far we've gone in technology with cameras where as before they had to use a simple camera and focus more on techniques and certain angle shots, today many producers still use the old methods but through the use of computers and high advanced cameras they are able to do so much more in a scene. I also liked the scene in the end where the little boy gets beat up becuase everyone is focused on their fake cameras. the narrator states that cameras have been destroyed and that everyone wears a mask when they are behind a camera, meaning that no- one shows who they really are when a camera is present even if its fake. Just like reality tv today, is most likely not even reality.

Its an interesting conundrum..."everyone" knows reality tv is fake and yet...all of reality is mediated by language, technology and narrative. It raises the question of what "the real" is today: are we all quick to assume either complete fake or complete truth?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you can connect some of your thoughts here to the issues at play in "Storytelling"?
